I just finished week one of rehearsals for Xanadu! Most of the week was spent learning choreography and music, and of course getting to know each other. I feel so fortunate to be working with a production staff that has such a clear image for this show. They are all wonderful! Allison Bibcoff, the choreographer, assistant choreographed the show on Broadway, so it has been fun picking her brain about the original production. Billy Kimmel, our director, has such a passion for this show that you can't help but want to put your all into everything. And Brent Marty, our music director, is knowledgeable about the music and show that he needs to be inducted into the Xanadu Preservation Society...which I found out is a real thing.
Getting to know the cast has been such an amazing experience! What a kind and talented group of people I have the opportunity to work with. It is exciting to see things forming! I will admit that at this point I feel a little overwhelmed, but all the hard work everyone has been putting in will pay off. I am starting to get a grasp of what I want my "Kira" to be like, and am looking forward to jumping in head first next week.
